What is Family Day Care?
Family Day Care is exceptional home-based education and care provided by a qualified educator in their own home. FDC Educators care for small numbers of children meaning your child/ren will receive more personalised attention, better suited to you and your child’s individual needs.

To find an approved Family Day Care service and/or Educator, simply enter your postcode or location. Family Day Care services are shown as blue pins and educators are shown as green.
Services will assist you to find a suitable Educator who meets your family's needs. Contact details are provided within the service locator below.
If there are multiple educators belonging to the same service within a postcode, but they live in different suburbs, they will be listed as one result. For example, if a service has educators in all four suburbs for 4152 - Carina, Carina Heights, Carindale and Camp Hill, these will appear as one listing with the service's details for you to contact.
Please note locations are not exact. Services can provide you with more information about their educators.

When researching FDC Educators and services, consider asking the following questions to find the best fit and provide comfort for your family:
- How is your Family Day Care Educator monitored and supported?
- How do you ensure my child is safe and protected?
- What is your approach to risk-based play?
- How will my child’s routine be supported (sleep, breastfeeding, allergies, special needs, etc)?
- How do I pay my fees?
- Are there alternative arrangements for my children if my educator is unwell or on leave?
- How do you support children with high needs (if applicable)?

Frequently Asked Questions
Each service has their own requirements regarding immunisation. In general, children are encouraged to be immunised, however, it is not mandatory. Keep in mind children who are not immunised are not eligible to receive government funding/Child Care Subsidy (CCS). Again, check with your preferred service regarding their position on immunisation.
You will be required to provide your details to Centrelink for assessment. Contact Centrelink for specific details – Child Care Subsidy – Services Australia
Complaints about services or Educators should be directed to a local Regulatory Authority Local early childhood offices
All FDC Educators are required to have a minimum qualification of a Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or working towards completion.
